Come dive with us at the Frazier Quarry in Ravenel

We have put a lot into making diving at the quarry a really fun and accessible experience for our Joe’s Scuba students.

We now have a Navy Trainer Airplane from the 50’s, a 2013 Ford Mustang, a 21 foot O’Day Sailboat, a training platform, a concrete fountain statue, some rectangle structures for buoyancy training, and a diving bell!

We also welcome you to join us and practice your diving out at the quarry if you are already certified. Just book online right here to join us at the quarry while we are out there. We rent tanks and gear right from the booking so we can be ready for your needs when you come with us.

This is our 1950s Cessna U-3A training airplane, tail number N3008D. It was a twin engine plane used quite regularly through to the 1970s. It was purchased by Joe’s Scuba in April of 2024. Mark and Joe drove down to Florida to pick it up, we disassembled it, then reassembled it once we got back to the quarry. The local police dive team assisted in floating it out and sinking it with us in the quarry.

There were no engines when we purchased the plane, so we build engines out of old beer kegs and ceiling fans.

Please do not attempt to enter the plane.

This is our 2013 Ford Mustang. When Joe’s Scuba purchased it, there was still a transmission in it but the engine was already removed. We removed the transmission and build a custom concrete engine to keep the weighting characteristics right but be clean and safe for the quarry.

Local police and fire dive teams use the Mustang for training, so it moves a few feet here and there as they train with it. It is a super cool addition to the quarry.

Please do not attempt to enter the Mustang unless you are wreck trained.

This is our 21 foot O’Day Sailboat. We completely gutted the boat and cleaned it to prep for sinking. We did it with a large group of divers, including a number of our families. We actually had 14 people and divers on the boat as we were prepping sinking it. It was an awesome experience for everyone!!

Please do not attempt to enter the Sailboat unless you are wreck trained.

This is the Joe’s Scuba diving bell. It is a cast iron bathtub from the 1920s that we build a structure to support and attach it to. There is a standard tub push-plug that you push to close and push again to open. To use it you go underneath and push the plug closed, purge your octo to fill it with air, then you can chat with your buddy underwater!! When finished please push the plug back in to drain the air out. We do not want it left filled with air to ensure it is always fresh air inside. Also do not move the weights (patio stones) from the sides because that is the primary way it is held down.
